Spring Impact is a social enterprise dedicated to scaling social impact for systems change, across various sectors including early childhood care. Partnering with organizations, they help them identify, design and implement the right approach to solve social problems on a much larger scale.

Why We Invested

Home-based childcare (HBCC) providers such as childminders, nannies, neighbors and family members, form the bedrock of quality childcare by offering affordable, culturally sensitive care in the intimate environment of a home. Notably, the number of children cared for using HBCC is growing and the structured support for these providers and children has not yet scaled to meet the size of the need. Furthermore, knowing that in our societies, women are most often the ones who provide child care services, it is important for us to ensure childcare providers are adequately supported and compensated in order to address barriers to economic empowerment for women in the society. With Imaginable Futures’ support and other funders, Spring Impact is mapping the HBCC ecosystem and developing a strategic plan to scale and strengthen HBCC programs. This study builds on earlier research they conducted in 2019, and will explore how the HBCC sector could be more equitable and resilient, especially in recovery from global crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our goal is to create a supportive ecosystem for every mission-driven organization with the ambition to create a dent in the size of a social problem. This issue remains just as frustrating today but the opportunities to collaborate, partner, convene, and influence one another across the social sector are increasing. And we know the need for scalable solutions is becoming more urgent.
