Why We Invested
Led by a Black woman, Piraporiando focuses on creating experiences that promote racial and gender equity in learning. Initially dedicated to the creation of didactic learning resources, the organization today produces content that blends technology with educational guidelines that advance diversity, equity and inclusion. Its main product, the Trilha da Diversidade (Trail of Diversity) is made for educators and school administrative leaders. Because of our shared concern for social justice, Piraporiando is an important partner focused on the strengthening of identities, belonging and self-esteem in communities marginalized by racism and gender discrimination. Our investment supports its business model and financial sustainability, particularly as it expands its services to a broader field. We envision that over time, Piraporiando’s work in the public education system will empower many more educators, thus paving the way for a more equitable future for learners and their families in Brazil.
