We believe that knowledge that integrates science and local wisdom can create meaningful learning experiences. Ação Educativa’s goal is to systematize a methodology of mapping local knowledge, which will make visible local knowledge and landmarks of Black and Indigenous resistance against historical oppression. They will also provide teachers and school managers the necessary professional development and materials they need to help advance an antiracist and decolonial education practice.
Confronting racism is the greatest challenge of democracy. There is no way you can start any other basic discussion in this country— citizenship, economic challenges, social challenges—and it does not involve confronting racism… The anti-racist fight taught us to work in culture, taught us to work with youth, and education, it also taught us that racism reinvents itself, so, guaranteeing public policies, affirmative actions, guaranteeing the right for you to have training is central to the process.
