RAPID-EC is an ongoing survey project featuring two national surveys, one of households with at least one child under age 6 and a second survey of the child care workforce. The surveys are designed to collect essential information on the needs, well-being, and health-promoting behaviors of young children and the important adults in their lives.

Why We Invested

Imaginable Futures has prioritized equity-based research and elevating researchers of color as a key component of our investment strategy in the United States. We invested in the continued development of the RAPID-EC study and specifically their partnership with the Researchers Investigating Sociocultural Equity and Race (RISER) Network to ensure that the voices and experiences of all families are represented in decision-making and to deepen our understanding of the pandemic’s impact, particularly on Black children and caregivers.

We started RAPID-EC early in the pandemic to provide timely, actionable data to policymakers. We’ve discovered along the way that RAPID-EC—the survey and approach, the quantitative data, the open-ended question responses—can be a phenomenal tool to understand the experiences of children and the adults in their lives. We will continue to amplify their voices and disseminate these tools to enable all of us to better serve them.
