PelotonU is a nonprofit providing working adults with the resources and support to earn their degree. We believe any student with the will and drive should be able to graduate from college — regardless of geography or economics – and also help leaders in other cities bring our model to their communities. Our students, most of whom will be the first in their family to earn a degree, graduate at five times the rate of their peers.
Why We Invested
Seventy four percent of students are now post-traditional, meaning they are either older than 24, work over 30 hours, or raising a family. However, the needs of these learners are often misaligned with the fixed structures of many postsecondary institutions, resulting in low completion rates. PelotonU supports the postsecondary success of the most marginalized students that are not well-served by postsecondary institutions, including student parents. As a hybrid college featuring coaching for students, a dedicated space to study, and a network of academic resources and social services, PelotonU provides a college pathway that offers the flexibility and support for students to manage school alongside competing responsibilities.
Over 45 million Americans have started college and not yet graduated – because the system was never designed to serve the students who now need it most. By pairing communities that foster belonging with in-person coaching that inspires hope we’re building a future where those who feel left behind by the American Dream will see their hard work lead to opportunity.
