Founded in the 1980s by activists from the Brazilian Black movement, Geledés Institute (Geledés) has historically acted against inequality and discrimination based on race and gender. The organization is a pioneer in discussions on the intersection of education, human rights, research and public policies. Our investment supports the development of Geledés’ work in education and supports programs that train its new leaders, thus allowing them to further create ties that mobilize people, communities, partnerships and knowledge around a vision of racial justice in Brazil. For us, supporting Geledés is a way to honor their work in Brazil and is also a step towards being a global funder in this movement.
