Of Africa’s 420 million young people between 15 and 35 years old, one third are unemployed, one third are vulnerably employed and only one sixth are in wage employment. Aware of the challenges that their education systems and labor markets face, countries across Africa are focusing on skills-based education reforms. In partnership with the governments of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya, Educate!’s experiential model teaches business skills and the soft skills demanded most by employers and students.
When I meet the young people who participate in our program and see the impact they are creating in their own lives and in the lives of so many others, I am inspired by the power and potential of youth to create change on a global level.
