Technology is playing an increasing role in early childhood education with one of the promises being that it can meet the needs of a large number of people. However, due to market demands, many early childhood education innovations have concentrated at the higher end of the income spectrum. At the same time, federal, state and local governments are increasing their demand for early childhood programs and outcomes, demonstrating a gap between innovation and adoption within government systems. Our research with the Early Learning Lab seeks to increase the knowledge base of early childhood funding streams to help ensure that more of the best innovation reaches more children and families across the socioeconomic spectrum.
